Lecture: Computer Animation

  • Lecturer(s):
  • Dates: Tue. and Thu. 15 (c.t.) - 17, HS 1
  • Curriculum: Diploma (Graduate)
  • Diploma Area: B2
  • Exams: written examination: Thu. 16.07.2009 3pm - 5pm, Audimax, second written exam: Thu. 01.10.2009 9:30am - 11:30am, HS1

The lecture computer animation gives attention to the representation and visualisation of moving three dimensional objects. After introducing some fundamentals the lecture focus on representations of virtual characters ("avatars", "animated agents").

Topics are: Fundamentals of computer animation; kinematics; representations of
motions;  motion  capturing;  motion  editing;  motion  textures;  motion
styles;  morphing  techniques;  facial  animations;  cognitive  modelling

Assignment notes

Information for exercise classes: The arrangement of the classes is done by an online system. Please register following this link:extern http://web.informatik.uni-bonn.de/II/Anmeldung/Uebungsgruppe_CA.html

Running Matlab: Unfortunately, there is a bug in the current MATLAB installation in the pool. Before running Matlab it is therefore required to define a certain environment variable. Choose My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> New (in User Variables). Now define MATLAB_PREFDIR=C:\TEMP\<username>
