Beginning in winter semester 2015/16, we are offering a Linux live distribution that can optionally be used for the practical exercises in our classes (Scientific Visualization, Image Acquisition and Analysis in Neuroscience, Bioinformatics II). It is based on Linux Mint 17.2, and has all software required for the exercises pre-installed. Its codename is VisCoSiTea, derived from the fact that it will SImplify the TEAching of VISual COmputing.

You can run VisCoSiTea in parallel to your regular operating system, either within a virtual machine, or by creating a bootable USB stick. undefinedA brief installation guide is available as PDF. ISO images are available for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

If you're Linux-savvy and interested in what packages are available on VisCoSiTea, you're invited to undefinedlook at this document.

We'd love to hear your feedback on VisCoSiTea! Please send it to Vitalis Wiens.
